My Peace - My Friend

When loneliness seems to be your friend

And the tears you cry at night

Has no end

When you hide your broken heart from the world

And your soul is in twists and twirls –

No friends in sight, all you see are foes -

He knows

In the darkest of valleys, He sits beside you

And even climbs the highest mountains by your side

We just need to learn to trust in Him and abide

Things are tough now,

The road ahead seems so long

All we see in this dessert ahead are dry bones

But we live by faith and not by sight

When we walk through the valley at the darkest of night

We will fear no evil

He has been with me from the very beginning

So I can come to His courts with singing

He walks with me in the present

And He goes out before me always

Why do I then look to the left and to the right

When all You have said You have fulfilled?

I thank You, Lord for Your peace that makes my soul still

In You I can rest – while my enemies fall by my side

I have peace because I have You no matter my circumstance

So I take up my tambourine and in Your presence –

I shall Dance!
